The system allows for redefinition of the method of protein expression measurement in relation to the standard Western blot (WB) technique. The Jess™ device utilizes Simple Western™ technology which provides for complete automation of the process from electrophoresis through incubation with antibodies and washing to detection and quantitative data analysis in less than 4 hours. Due to a high sensitivity of the system at the level of pg, the Jess™ system is efficient in detecting a protein even when its content is low (<0.6 μg protein).
In addition, the fully automated process enables an increase in the reproducibility of results, which remains a great challenge when using the traditional multi-stage WB analysis. The next advantage of the Jess™ system is that by the application of the RePlex™ procedure, it ensures detection of different proteins after one separation of the sample, just as with membrane stripping in the WB procedure, which in combination with chemiluminescence and fluorescence detection offered by the system significantly broadens measurement options during one experiment.
Should the traditional WB method nevertheless be more suitable for a given analysis, the Jess™ device can also be used for visualization of the obtained results.
