On May 27, 2022 at the May Institute of Pharmacology PAS, the installation of the new timsTOF Pro 2 mass spectrometer with PASEF® technology (Bruker) equipped with the UltiMateTM 3000 capillary liquid chromatography system was completed. The timsTOF Pro 2 mass spectrometer is a unique world-class system and the first instrument in Poland utilizing ion source and nanoflow designed for proteomic analyses.
This device is not only a high-resolution mass spectrometer equipped with ESI source, but in addition it has a Trapped Ion Mobility Spectrometry (TIMS) ion mobility analyzer. This solution enables obtaining additional information about the structure of the test compounds and, in the case of proteomic studies, it significantly enhances the quality of results by increasing the number of the identified peptides.
Due to high sensitivity and fragmentation of molecules with the use of PASEF technology, the timsTOF Pro 2 is a market-leading system for proteomic studies of shotgun sequencing type, and also for analysis of drugs and endogenous compounds, and quantitative analyses on any type.
