Bioanalysis: proteomics and mass spectrometry
Founder of the Laboratory of Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry at the Jerzy Maj Institute of Pharmacology in Krakow. Research and didactic employee at the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Biochemistry, Stanisław Staszic University of Science and Technology in Kraków. His scientific interests focus on the application of mass spectrometry in the study of biomolecules in drug addiction. He specialises in proteomic analyses, especially using the data-independent acquisition (DIA) technique and molecular imaging of tissues using the MALDI-TOF/TOF technique. He completed a foreign internship at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research (Uppsala University) in Sweden under the supervision of Prof. Ulf Hellman, a world expert in MALDI ionisation mass spectrometry.
The Bioanalysis module also houses the Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, which offers commercial research services in proteomics and molecular imaging of tissues using the MALDI technique. It is equipped with two high-resolution ESI and MALDI ionisation mass spectrometers. It provides services mainly in the field of proteomic analyses, in particular data-independent acquisition (DIA) analyses, allowing the quantitative analysis of thousands of proteins from a single sample without the use of isobaric tags, and molecular imaging using the MALDI technique of tissues to determine the spatial distribution of the compounds under study in the tissues under analysis, such as lipids, neurotransmitters or proteins.
