Breeding of transgenic mice

The GMO breeding zone is dedicated to transgenic animals, either imported commercially or from IF PAN collaborating research facilities within the framework of scientific collaborations. The GMO breeding zone is also used to maintain transgenic lines for proof-of-concept research, created from scratch at Cephares and IF PAN. To ensure the highest standards, the rooms have been equipped with racks of self-ventilated IVC cages, allowing individual settings of humidity, temperature and airflow. This arrangement allows close control of the animals’ living conditions and minimises the risk of infection by pathogens. Only trained personnel have access to the kennel. The animals’ bedding is changed by means of a portable cage changing station, which is then washed and autoclaved by the staff operating the IF PAN Animal Facility.
