About Cephares
CEPHARES – The Centre for Development of the Central Nervous System Disorder, established at the Jerzy Maj Institute of Pharmacology, Polish Academy of Sciences, Krakow. It is a technologically advanced national centre where interdisciplinary research in the field of neuropsychopharmacology is conducted, aimed at the development of novel drug candidates for CNS disorders.

AREAS OF ACTIVITY
The CEPHARES Centre is responding to some of the greatest societal challenges today and anticipated in the near future, which are disorders of the Central Nervous System (CNS) including, in particular, threats to human mental health. The adopted research strategy is to integrate activities around creating the scientific basis for bringing breakthrough CNS-targeted drugs to market. A comprehensive research programme from molecule design to a fully validated substance with drug potential, meeting the requirements for admission to the clinical trial phase, will be carried out in advanced laboratories.

APARATURE
The apparatus at the CEPHARES Centre is world-class, including laboratories for the synthesis and analysis of chemical compounds, systems for high-throughput in-vitro screening, chromatography, analysis of intracellular pathways, advanced microscopic imaging systems. All of this has been brought together in modern laboratories that meet the highest health and safety standards in a so-called ‘smart building’. Some of our equipment is the only or one of the few existing in Poland.
